Bye Bye Ferndale (albeit briefly)

We’ve cut the umbilical cord with Ray & Diane on Ferndale albeit only for a few days. We’re heading up to Bugsworth Basin and they’re heading down the Marple Locks to visit friends. We’ll be meeting next week at Ashton to head up the Ashton Locks into Manchester.

Banjo knows how to travel when the weather’s chilly

It was of course an excuse (if any excuse be needed) for yet another goodbye drink. We met up with Paul and Elaine and went to the pub at Sutton Hall. It’s a 480 year old manor house – the original home of the Earls of Lucan. It’s also an extremely comfortable and friendly pub which welcomes dogs.

We finished the evening with a curry and a few more drinks at the Old Kings Head (also very dog friendly) fortifying Ray & Diane against the next day’s chilly journey.
