Dirty Old Town? Not now it ain’t.

A recent visit to Salford Quays showed us, that, at least around the docks area, Salford certainly isn’t the same Dirty Old Town that Ewan McCall wrote the song about in the late 1940s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wj7xZf8xm8

Imperial War Museum on the Manchester Ship Canal

It’s all sparkly new buildings reflected in glass clear water with hardly a boat in sight (two tripper boats and a rowing eight to be exact)  and barely a trace of the thriving port on the Manchester Ship Canal that it once was.

We were impressed by this anchor sculpture suspended in mid air – very clever.
