We’ve been stuck in Wigan’s orbit for around eight weeks now. Gordon discovered that he needed some medical treatment and we’ve had to stay in the area waiting for it to happen. We were very impressed with the efficiency of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust. From first visit to the GP to having a minor op to sort the problem took only seven weeks. We couldn’t have asked for better treatment.
We spent quite a bit of time in Wigan where we visited the Church and had a look at the stained glass……
Went to Trencherfield Mill and saw the steam engine working
We headed back to the River Weaver and got together with Sharon and Richard from nb Oakapple……
…and were joined for a weekend by our friends Sue & Greg who we’ll be seeing again when we eventually get to Leeds.
We managed to get to see the Barton Swing Aqueduct across the Manchester Ship Canal swing for the passage of a large ship….
…and managed to pick up some wood for the winter.
Gordon’s treatment’s all done until his checkup on 5th November so we’re finally on to pastures new. We’ve come up the Wigan flight of 21 locks with the delightful company of Bill Nutt on nb Wide Man on Narrowboat.
….and are now on our way along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal heading towards Leeds.
